SAXOPRINT – environmentally-friendly printing

We want to reduce our environmental footprint. We work on this every day and have already succeeded in doing so in several areas. By choosing Saxoprint not only are you opting for great printing products but also for a responsible environmental strategy.

The challenge is huge

As a print shop we are well aware of our impact on the environment and make every effort to counteract it. We as a company would like to reduce our impact on climate change and protect the resources that we humans need to stay alive. We have already achieved a lot in this field, but always remain conscious of the fact that we're only at the beginning and still need to make improvements. Of course, this doesn't just happen overnight. We work every day to operate in a more environmentally manner and, despite high quality standards for our products, to continuously ease the burden on our climate.

In order to reduce our impact on climate change, we firstly rely on partner programmes that directly represent our values and help us to achieve our ambitious targets. In addition to these partners, we also optimise our internal areas in an environmentally suitable way so as to relieve both the climate and our employees.

Our environmental protection measures

Alcohol-free printing

One vital step is the use of alcohol-free ink. This reduces the strain both on the environment and our employees. As a damping solution used in printing ink, alcohol leads to heavy solvent exposure for our employees and also represents an increased fire risk. The environment is also protected, as alcohol combines with nitrogen to deplete the ozone layer. This leads to the greenhouse effect and promotes global warming. Our advanced printing machines mean that alcohol is no longer required for simple processes. Besides being environmentally-friendly this also has an economic benefit: the ink is rendered less moist, which leads to fewer ink splashes. Alcohol-free ink also dries considerably faster, which maximises processing times.

Vegetable oils render ink biodegradable

In addition to paper waste we are also trying to reduce waste in other areas. We only use large-volume containers for our inks and abstain from using several small ink cartridges. We have also replaced the mineral oils in our inks with vegetable oils. These biodegrade more easily and the inks can be better recycled.

We collect the orders

A significant issue on the topic of resource efficiency when printing is waste. Through our collective printing process we make paper use more efficient by bringing all single-format orders onto one sheet, making better use of it. Here, too, the economic and ecological advantages go hand in hand. With our protective use of resources we are one step closer to achieving our goal of reducing our impact on the environment.

Our high quality standards in the production process help us to avoid rejects and surplus production and to work more efficiently even at this level. Our aim at this point is to further optimise production, thereby affording the environment even greater protection. All of our waste is collected in large containers and then recycled.

The whole company is involved

Production aside, we also protect the environment in the area of administration. This of course begins with our use of paper. Through the use of internal networks, the need for paper resources is reduced. Colour printing is only possible with prior authorisation and is only available to employees to a limited extent. For any eventual paper waste, we place a strong emphasis on waste separation.

Everyone is capable of making a conscious choice

All of these measures represent just a small step, and one that is already behind us. Every day we endeavour to make our production more environmentally-friendly. The measures we have taken to date have shown us that printing quality and sustainable production are not mutually exclusive. With every product you are opting for green production that is constantly being further developed. We would like to continue on this path with respect to climate change in order to preserve the future of the next generations.
